Brijuni from Pula or Fažana: Island Visit, Dolphins or All-inclusive?
Updated October 16, 2026 · 5 min read
The answer first. Choose the Premium Brijuni trip with an island visit if setting foot on the archipelago matters. Pick the sunset dolphin cruise with drinks and dinner for an evening on the water. A boat that sails around Brijuni is not automatically an admission ticket to Veliki Brijun.
Three different experiences
| Choice | Published duration | From | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Island visit and dolphins | 5.5 hours | €40 | A substantial first visit |
| Island visit only | 5 hours | €40 | Travellers prioritising time ashore |
| Dolphin cruise | 3 hours | €35.20 | Sunset atmosphere |
The national park’s own standard excursion departs from Fažana and includes the return crossing, a guide, tourist train, Safari Park and museum displays. That is a useful benchmark: if a commercial listing merely says “panorama” or “sightseeing”, do not infer that it includes landing or park admission. Read the itinerary for the words island visit and check the actual departure pier.
Pula or Fažana?
Pula departures are convenient when your accommodation is in the city. Fažana is the park’s official gateway and is the clearer starting point for the park-run Veliki Brijun programme. A transfer between the two is not something to assume; the booking page must name it.
The all-inclusive label usually describes food and drink, not unlimited access to every island. Check what meal is named, whether the stop is on Veliki Brijun or another island, and whether park entry is included. Dolphin sightings remain wildlife encounters, never a certainty.
Who should choose what?
Families and first-time visitors normally gain more from a daytime island stop than from three hours aboard at sunset. Couples wanting an easy evening may prefer the dolphin cruise. Anyone mainly interested in the national park’s history, museum and Safari Park should compare the operator’s itinerary with the official Fažana excursion before paying.
Our recommendation
For most first visits, the all-inclusive premium Brijuni visit with dolphins is the most complete of these bookable options because it explicitly combines time ashore with the cruise. Choose the shorter sunset trip only when the boat ride itself is the goal.
