Pula Walking Tour: Romans, Habsburgs and the Harbour

The answer first. Choose the historic-sites guided walk for a lower-priced overview from €20. Pick the German-language walk with a local guide from €25 when hearing the story in German is the deciding factor.
What a city walk adds
Pula’s Roman monuments, later imperial architecture and working harbour sit close enough to connect on foot. A guide adds chronology: the Arena is not the whole Roman city, and the harbour’s military and industrial layers belong to a later story. That connection is harder to get from isolated photo stops.
The historic walk has 85 reviews in the current selection; the German walk has 286 and a published duration of 1.5 hours. Review totals measure booking history, not the quality of your individual guide. Check the language, group format, route and accessibility for your chosen departure.
Arena admission is a separate question
A title mentioning the Arena does not prove that its entry ticket is included. Many city walks explain the amphitheatre from outside so they can continue through central Pula. Read the inclusions and budget separate admission if you want the interior and underground display.
Private tours offer flexibility but make most sense for a group with particular interests. A standard shared walk is usually enough for first-time visitors who want orientation.
Before booking
Check the meeting point rather than assuming it is at your hotel or cruise berth. Wear shoes suited to polished stone and uneven old-town surfaces. In hot weather, a compact 1.5-hour format can be more comfortable than a long midday route.
Our recommendation
For most visitors, the historic-sites guided walk offers the clearest general introduction. Choose the German tour when language is worth the small price difference, and buy Arena admission separately only if it is absent from the listed inclusions.
